Cartagena from Above: a Rooftop Bar with a View
Everyone loves a good view, which is why Bry and I decided we needed to find a good rooftop from where we could look out over the beautiful city of Cartagena. There had to be a good rooftop bar somewhere; this city was made to be admired. Well, as the stars would have it, we eventually found one.
We had decided to take a carriage ride around the city. I know, it seems a bit touristy, but it was a really great way for us to connect the city dots. On our carriage ride, we spotted what we thought could be a rooftop bar, so once our tour was over, we headed in that direction and found the Movich Hotel. We had a hunch that this may be the right place. Ah ha! It was! We took the elevator to the top floor and found ourselves staring out at one of the most beautiful views we had seen on the trip. The sun was setting over the Caribbean Sea, and the golden light illuminated the colors of the old city. The modern high-rises of the Bocagrande neighborhood stood tall in the distance, juxtaposed to the colonial architecture below. Thus we were romanced by the charm of the past, while being reminded of the innovations we enjoy today. We promptly ordered ourselves some limonadas de coco so we could sit back, relax and fully enjoy the beauty of Cartagena de Indias.
